Susan Sassoon at a Bead show

About

My beading journey began in 2011 when my friend, Ellen Weinstock, introduced me to her beading hobby. I saw all of her beautiful work and felt a strong urge to create some of my own. She began teaching me some basics, and then I immersed myself in beading books, magazines, websites, videos and live classes to learn everything I could about this fascinating art form.

With over 25 years experience as a licensed professional architect, designing beadwork came naturally to me. The shapes, structures, and colors were so intriguing that beadwork began to take over all of my free time. I joined some beading groups and began to make many beading friends. As my friends saw my creations, they would ask me to teach them how to make what I made. I used my architectural drawing and documentation skills to create diagrams and write the instructions for my designs to assist me in teaching them to friends, and later to customers who purchase my tutorials.

My work has been honored with many awards and has been published in Bead Style, Beadwork, Bead and Jewellery, and Bead and Button Magazines.
